Joe K. Blacketer

Joe K. Blacketer, 56, of Ft. Myers, Fla. died on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Hope Hospice, Ft. Myers after a long struggle with cancer.

He was born on January 23, 1953 in Greencastle, a child of Robert J. and Dorothy Varvel Blacketer.

Mr. Blacketer and his wife moved to Ft. Myers in 1979. He was a graduate of Florida State University and a Certified Public Accountant who owned and operated Blacketer and Associates, Inc. in Ft. Myers for many years.

He was a life-long member of the Florida State University Alumni/Booster Associations and Cypress Lake United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Susan Stone Blacketer; his daughters, Amanda Marie Blacketer and Emily Ann Blacketer, both of Ft. Myers; his mother, Dorothy Blacketer of Greencastle; his sister Darla Blacketer of Houston; three nephews; three nieces; and nine great-nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at Cypress Lake United Methodist Church, 8570 Cypress Lake Dr., Ft. Myers, FL 33919.
