Fair on the Square begins May 15

Main Street Greencastle's Fair on the Square will kick off on Friday, May 15 at noon with the Cloverdale Marching Band. The festival will run through Sunday, May 17 on the east and north sides of the courthouse square.

This annual event offers a wide variety of musical entertainment, rides, amusements, festival food, crafts and art.

All concession and vendor booths will open at noon on Friday. There will be musical entertainment beginning Friday afternoon with Rob and Becky and ending with Nashville Connection playing at 7 p.m.

Saturday is packed, beginning with the annual pancake breakfast presented by the Kiwanis at the Greencastle Fire Department. Included in a $5 fee are pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, orange juice and coffee.

Proceeds from the breakfast benefit several charities including Riley Children's Hospital.

Other events for Saturday include a fiddle and banjo contest, pie baking contest, a Johnny Cash impersonator, the F-5 Southern Rock Band and Bandit the Hero Heart.

Across the street from the breakfast is the annual bake sale at First Christian Church from 8 a.m. to noon.

The popular Eyeore's Birthday Party, sponsored by the Mental Health Association, will take place on the south side of the courthouse at 10 a.m. Saturday morning. This event is held every year during National Mental Health Month.

Sunday events include a classic car, truck and motorcycle show, Everly Brothers impersonators and the Eagle Creek Band.

The weekend festivities conclude at 5 p.m. on Sunday with a drawing for the winners of Main Street Greencastle's Vacation/ Sporting Events Stimulus Package. Tickets can be purchased at the Main Street Greencastle booth at the fair.

The Alliance for the Arts show and sale will also take place in the Red Leaf Community Building on the square during the festival. This is a group of about 20 local artists who will display and sell their arts and crafts.
