Poynter enters denial on charge

Wednesday, May 6, 2009

A Parke County man has entered a denial to a charge that he violated his Putnam County probation.

Kyle Poynter, 20, was arrested April 29 and remains in the Putnam County Jail. He has been ordered held without bond, and an evidentiary hearing in the case has been set for May 18.

Poynter was charged with Class A misdemeanor carrying a handgun without a license on April 3. He has been on probation in Putnam County since Feb. 21, 2008 for burglary and since Dec. 19, 2008 for domestic battery.

Poynter was sentenced to home detention for the burglary charge, and was convicted of violating the terms of that home detention when he was charged with domestic battery.

He was then sentenced to time served and was sent back to home detention.

The courts have listed previous addresses for Poynter in Brazil, Fillmore and Bainbridge. He now has a Mecca address.
