Raffle aids pantry

Thursday, May 7, 2009

Twelve dollars got Linda Jarrett a great gift to give to her mother, Sharon Jarrett on Mothers day.

Jarrett bought ten raffle tickets in a contest sponsored by the residents at Hickory Creek at Sunset to raise money for the Putnam County Senior Center Food Pantry.

The group raised $552 and HCS Administrator Gayle Camonte presented a check to Alice White, Lillian Riley and Kathryn Thompson from the pantry.

The quilt was anonymously donated to the residents at HCS with the understanding they could do whatever they wished with it.

They chose to raffle it off and donate the money to the food pantry.

Linda Jarrett spends a lot of time at the nursing home facility visiting her father Ted who is a resident there.

Her mother was with her when she received the quilt.

The two were taking it to Ted Jarrett's room to show it off and Sharon will be receiving it on Mothers Day.

"It's just beautiful," said both mother and daughter.
