Dennis Floyd Terry, 96, of Fillmore passed away Sunday, May 10, 2009 at Putnam County Hospital.

Born May 2, 1913 in Putnam County, he was the son of Roy and Hallie (Grimes) Terry. He was a graduate of Belle Union High School with the class of 1932.

He married Stella Mac (Pritchard) Terry on Jan. 18, 1936 and she preceded him in death Sept. 2, 2005.

A U.S. Army veteran, he served in the Armored Field Artillery 274th company during World War II.

Mr. Terry had been a farmer in Putnam County since 1950. He was a 50-year member of the Applegate Masonic Lodge No. 55 F&AM, Fillmore; a lifetime member of the VFW Post No. 1550, Greencastle; and a former member of the Mt. Meridian Methodist Church.

Survivors include a niece; three great nieces; a god child, Gina Seieensticker; loving friends and caregivers, Fred &and Joyce Girton and Virgil and Loretta Arnold.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters, Fern Terry and Rozella Hunter, and a brother, Carl Terry.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mike Faust officiating. Burial will be in the Fillmore Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 5-8 p.m.
