CLAY CITY -- The Cloverdale High School golf team came up short Tuesday afternoon against Clay City, losing 169-166.

Mike Wellington led the Clovers with a 38, while Chris Arnold followed closely behind with a 39 and Gary Williams turned in a 44. Ryan Bock shot a 48 for the Clovers 'final score.

On Monday, the Clovers were four strokes short of beating West Vigo, 187-183, at the Landing Golf Course. Chris Arnold led the Clovers, shooting 42 for the day while Mike Wellington turned in a 44 and Gary Williams carded a 50. Keith Hathorn rounded out the Cloves scorecard with a 51.

"We had a miserable outing on Monday, and only partially improved Tuesday," CHS Coach Doug Wokoun said. "We are at a low point right now and are fighting our way out.

"With the county meet coming up on Thursday, we have very little time to make corrections," Wokoun said.

Cloverdale is back in action on Thursday when it hosts the Putnam County golf tournament at Clover Meadows, starting at 4:30 p.m.
