The opening round of the 2009 Putnam County Softball Tournament was a rematch between North Putnam and South Putnam.

The first time these two teams met, the Lady Eagles shut out North Putnam is both games and the Saturday was no different.

South Putnam shut out North Putnam once again, 2-0, but it wasn't until bottom of the third when the Lady Eagles made their move.

After Krystal Welch reached on an error, Emily Dabkowski stepped up to the plate and sent one to the fence for an RBI triple. Dabkowski then scored when Oceaia Boejter grounded one to the Taylor Judy on mound, forcing the Cougar pitcher to overthrow it to third in an attempt to Dabkowski in a pickle for an out.

South Putnam collected five hits off of Judy with Boejter going 2-for-3 with an RBI while Dabkowski went 1-for-3 with an RBI also.

North Putnam's only hit of the game came late when Judy drove one to Boejter at shortstop and beat the throw.

Brooke Boejter earned the win, keeping her record flawless, fanning eight Cougars while allowing one hit.

Judy took the loss while striking out five and allowing two runs on five hits.

In game two, between Cloverdale and Greencastle, the game was called in the third inning with the score tied 0-0.
