Putnam County Jail

Three people were recently booked into the Putnam County Jail for various charges.

Brett Milton, 40, Crawfordsville, was booked at 2:29 p.m. Tuesday for contempt of court.

Mark Poynter, 23, Mecca, was booked at 2:54 p.m. Tuesday for probation violation.

Matthew West, 26, Terre Haute, was booked at 10:35 a.m. Wednesday for harassment.

Putnam County Sheriff's Department

A one-vehicle accident occurred at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday resulting in injury.

Bonnie Helton of Greencastle was traveling on U.S. 231 when her vehicle left the road and struck a drainage ditch to a driveway.

Scott Crouch of Danville, a witness to the accident, stated the vehicle went airborne after striking the ditch and landed on its wheels.

According to the accident report, Helton had no recollection of the crash. She complained of neck, chest and stomach pains and was transported to Putnam County Hospital before being airlifted to Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, for treatment of her injuries.

Jerry's Wrecker Service towed the vehicle from the scene.

There was an estimated $2,501 to $5,000 in damages.

Greencastle Fire Department

The Greencastle Fire Department was called out on two runs recently.

Crews were dispatched to 510 Columbia St. at 4:12 p.m. Tuesday for an odor investigation. Nothing was found and they were back in service at 4:34 p.m.

Crews were dispatched to 1019 Indianapolis Road at 5:29 p.m. Wednesday for an accident involving a motorcycle and a car. No injuries were reported and they were back in service at 5:45 p.m.
