Letter to the Editor

Taking shots at marshal is unfair

To The Editor:

This letter is in regards to the Speak Out letters on our town marshal.

First of all, if you have a concern, just go to Mike and voice your concern to him. If you don't feel you get a resolution from him, then you can go to his peers instead of taking the coward's way out and putting in Speak Out.

How can he have a chance to answer for himself if he doesn't know who has the concern

To answer part of your question on him driving the police car out of town, a lot of the time he picking up stuff for the town. He isn't a 9-5 person. He is on call 24-7. He doesn't get paid a hourly rate; he gets a salary, so there may be some weeks he works 80 hours or more and gets the same pay as if he worked 40 hours.

His wife doesn't know if, when he leaves, he will return home safely. He does a lot for Roachdale. I can tell you if Mike didn't feel he was doing his job to his fullest, he would step down and let someone else do it. He did not take the job for the pay (because Roachdale is a small town and doesn't have lots of money to offer their employees), he took it because he thought he could be a plus to the town of Roachdale.

I feel he has been a plus to our small town. He is fair, he's there to lend a helping hand when needed.

In closing, if you have a problem with our town marshal then go talk to him, he'll listen. We are lucky to have him.

The Roachdale Town Board made a great decision when they hired Mike. I am not a personal friend of Mike or anything, I just feel if you have something to say go to him face to face and get your answers.

He has even pulled me over for speeding, and would do it again. Roachdale is a much safer place since Mike came aboard.

Keep up the good work, Mike. Roachdale is proud to have you.

By the way, I have seen Mike driving his minivan many of times.

I am proud to sign my name to this letter.
