South Putnam schools in session Aug. 13

South Putnam Community School will open the 2009-2010 school year on Aug. 13 for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. All kindergarten students must be five years old on or before Aug. 1 to be eligible to enroll. Students will be in attendance all day on the 13th and lunch will be served. New students will need a copy of their birth certificate and immunization records. Proof of legal guardianship may be required.

The starting and ending times of the schools are as follows:

Central Elementary -- 8:20 a.m. to 2:50 p.m.

Fillmore Elementary -- 7:50 a.m. to 2:50 p.m.

Reeslville Elementary -- 7:50 a.m. to 2:20 p.m.

South Putnam Jr./Sr. High -- 8:23 a.m. to 3:08 p.m.

Student enrollment and book rental will be as follows:

Central Elementary -- Aug. 5 from noon to 7 p.m.; Aug. 6 from noon to 7 p.m.

Reelsville Elementary -- Aug. 5 from noon to 7 p.m.; Aug. 6 from noon to 7 p.m.

Fillmore Elementary -- Aug. 5 from noon to 7 p.m.; Aug. 6 from noon to 7 p.m.

Book fees for the elementary schools are as follows:

* Kindergarten -- $63.07

* First grade -- $91.23

* Second grade -- $77.83

* Third grade -- $66.73

* Fourth grade -- $57.73

* Fifth grade -- $54.31

* Sixth grade -- $58.06

At South Putnam Jr./Sr. High School, student enrollment and book rental will be on the following dates and schedule:

Aug. 5 -- noon to 7 p.m. (incoming seventh graders and new students)

Aug. 6 -- noon to 7 p.m. (Area 30 registration)

Parents should make every effort to register during those days. If this is not possible, contact the high school at 653-3148 or 795-6339 from 8 to 11 a.m. and from 12:30 to 3 p.m. to make arrangements.

Students must have everything completed prior to the first day of school Aug. 13.

Parents unable to pay book rental fees during the schedule time periods should contact their building principal prior to the first day of school to make arrangements for payment.

Principals will be in their offices from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily beginning July 27.
