Putnam County Sheriff's Department

There have been several accidents reported recently by the Putnam County Sheriff's Department.

On Monday, Emma Jones of Gosport was parked in front of the Dollar General Store on North Jackson Street at 8:45 a.m. When she attempted to back out of her parking space, she failed to see a vehicle parked behind her. The left rear of Jones' vehicle struck the right front of the parked vehicle.

Estimated damages were less than $750. Jones' vehicle was not towed from the scene.

Steven Brown of Ladoga was traveling east on CR 1350N near Raccoon and Thomas Franklin of Ladoga was traveling west as they approached Cornstalk Bridge. Brown's vehicle struck the front of Franklin's vehicle, causing the airbags to deploy. The accident occurred at 4:06 p.m. Sunday.

There were no injuries, and neither vehicle was towed from the scene. There was an estimated $2,501 to $5,000 in damages.

Dustin McKinney of Greencastle was traveling north on US 231 just north of US 40 at 1:12 p.m. Friday, when he lost control of his vehicle, struck a guardrail and the vehicle began to spin.

McKinney's vehicle then crossed the centerline and struck a southbound vehicle driven by Larry Salsman of Greencastle on the passenger side rear door. McKinney's vehicle continued to spin out of control and struck a second southbound vehicle driven by Jeffrey Dunker of Frankfort.

Dunker was trapped inside the vehicle and extricated by Cloverdale Township Fire Department. He was flown to an unknown hospital in Indianapolis with a severe leg injury.

Salsman and his passengers were not injured in the crash. McKinney and a passenger in Dunker's vehicle were taken to Putnam County Hospital.

Witnesses told investigating officers they heard a loud pop before the crash and believed McKinney's vehicle blew a tire, causing him to lose control of his vehicle.

Steele's Wrecker Service towed McKinney's and Dunker's vehicles from the scene. Jerry's Wrecker Service towed Salsman's vehicle from the scene. There was an estimated $10,001 to $25,000 in damages.

Ashley Adkins of Greencastle was attempting to back out of a private driveway and thought he had enough room to avoid a second vehicle. Adkins' vehicle struck the front of the second vehicle.

The accident occurred at 12:08 p.m. Thursday. There was an estimated $1,001 to $2,500 in damages.

Carolyn Fultz of Coatesville was traveling southwest on Heritage Drive near Fillmore at 5:28 p.m. Wednesday, when she lost control of her vehicle and ended up in a ditch.

Kenny's Wrecker Service towed Fultz's vehicle from the scene. There was an estimated $2,501 to $5,000 in damages.

Heather Lone of Greencastle was traveling north on US 231 at 9 p.m. July 21, when she entered congested traffic due to the Putnam County Fair.

Lone stated she wasn't able to stop in time and attempted to swerve to avoid hitting a vehicle in front of her driven by Alex Evans of Cloverdale. Lone's vehicle struck the corner of Evans' vehicle.

Neither vehicle was towed from the scene. There was an estimated $1,001 to $2,500 in damages.

Matthew Barnett of Bainbridge was traveling east on US 36 near US 231 at 11:51 p.m. July 15, when a deer entered the roadway. Barnett avoided the animal, but struck a utility pole.

Minks Wrecker Service towed his vehicle from the scene. There was an estimated $5,001 to $10,000 in damages. No injuries were reported.

Putnam County Jail

Rex Nuckels, 46, Cloverdale, was booked into the Putnam County Jail at 12:55 a.m. Friday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and as habitual traffic offender, public intoxication and operating per se.

Robert Keller, 38, homeless, was booked at 1:10 p.m. Friday for probation violation.

Casey Hartman, 29, Salina, was booked at 10:32 p.m. Saturday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, operating per se and public intoxication.

Samantha Bennett, 18, Greencastle, was booked at 11:48 p.m. Saturday for dealing and possession of marijuana.

Nicholas Bennett, 18, Greencastle, was booked at 12:13 a.m. Sunday for possession and dealing in marijuana.

Charles Burgeson, 23, Greencastle, was booked at 12:50 a.m. Sunday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, operating per se and public intoxication.

Joseph Taylor, 30, Cloverdale, was booked at 3:06 a.m. Sunday for false reporting or informing.

James Cole, 20, Greencastle, was booked at 5:28 a.m. Monday for public intoxication, resisting law enforcement and possessing alcohol as a minor.

Georgie Mboga, 38, Brazil, was booked at 11:37 a.m. Tuesday for probation violation.

Greencastle Police Department

The Greencastle Police Department has issued the following tickets since Thursday:

Madonna Owens, 22, Coatesville was ticketed on Indianapolis Road at 9:40 a.m. Thursday for driving with a suspended license.

Jonathan Davidson, 20, Coatesville was ticketed on Indianapolis Road at 1:03 p.m. Thursday for driving with a suspended license.

Daniel Bampoh, 23, Greencastle, was ticketed on S. Bloomington Street at 4:45 a.m. Saturday for traveling 50 m.p.h. in a 30 m.p.h. zone.

Samantha Runnells, 29, Brownsburg, was ticketed on S.R. 240 at 2:25 p.m. Monday for traveling 58 m.p.h. in a 40 m.p.h. zone.

The following accidents were reported by the Greencastle Police Department:

Ashley Bonifield, 17, Cloverdale, was driving her 2008 Ford Mustang north on Wood Street at 9:33 a.m. Monday, when she struck a utility pole owned by Verizon Communications.

Bonifield stated to Sgt. Terry Eastham she looked down at a piece of paper in her vehicle when the accident occurred. She was transported to Putnam County Hospital with abrasions.

There was an estimated $10,000, to $25,000 in damages.
