A motorist traveling down the wrong side of the road causes an accident.

Alexander Saydjari of Crawfordsville was traveling north on US 231 near Cloverdale at 7:19 p.m. Wednesday, when his vehicle crossed the center line and struck a vehicle driven by William Wood of Brazil.

Wood, who was traveling south, attempted to avoid the oncoming vehicle. Saydjari's vehicle struck the rear driver's side door of Wood's vehicle.

The impact caused Saydjari to be ejected from his vehicle and he was found in a ditch near a driveway. It was unclear if he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of accident.

Wood, two of his passengers and Saydjari were transported to Putnam County Hospital for treatment of injuries.

Saydjari was cited for driving left of center, when not permitted.

There was an estimated $5,001 to $10,000 in damages.
