McCloud Nature Park hosts slimy and fun nature activities

NORTH SALEM -- McCloud Nature Park is welcoming guests of all ages to enjoy a weekend full of fish, reptiles and amphibian activities Saturday and Sunday. Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of events at the nature center, including a search for frogs and toads, a fly fishing demonstration as well as a hunt for snakes in the park.

Visitors can come to the McCloud Nature Center for a toad search at 1 p.m. Saturday, which includes an introduction to the types of toads at McCloud Nature Park, followed by a fun hunt for them in the park. At 3 p.m., the public is invited to take part in an open fly fishing demonstration with dedicated members of the Indianapolis Flycasters.

At 1 p.m. Sunday, park staff will host "Slime Time." Bring your sense of adventure as we discover the slimy creatures at the park and make your own fun slime creation. At 3 p.m., the nature center is offering "Super Snakes," where participants will explore the variety of snakes at the park during this hands-on activity.

All activities are free of charge and open to the public. McCloud Nature Park is located five minutes south of North Salem on 8518 North Hughes Road. The park is open from dawn until dusk, and the nature center is open Monday through Saturday from 10:00am to 5:00pm and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. For more information on park programs, please call the park naturalist at 676-5437.
