South Putnam to dedicate football field

Friday, August 14, 2009

GREENCASTLE -- South Putnam will rename its football field Wildman Field at its Sept. 4 game against Rockville.

The field will be christened Wildman Field in honor of Indiana Football Hall of Fame coach Mark Wildman. In his time at South Putnam, Wildman recorded 140 wins and brought to Putnam County its only state football championship back in 1986.

An arch will be constructed at the opening of the football facility to commemorate Wildman's contributions to South Putnam.

The arch is being funded completely by donations. For anyone interested in donating to the fund, checks should be made to South Putnam Quarterback Club c/o Dave Bombei 125 Woodland Heights, Greencastle, IN 46135.
