Tiger Cubs drop contest to Golden Arrows

GREENCASTLE -- The Greencastle volleyball team fell to 0-4 on the season after falling to Sullivan in three sets Wednesday. The Tiger Cubs fell 25-6, 25-12 and the 25-12.

Chelsea Samuels led the way with 27 digs, seven blocks and six kills, while Kara Birt added 14 digs, two assists and one ace. Kayla Nobles recorded seven points, one attack and 13 digs, with Kandice Phillips adding 13 digs, seven assists and 48 sets.

Rayleigh Amis chipped in 14 digs, three blocks and one kill, with Jordyn Lewis and Erynn Beck adding six digs each. Hannah Cochran had six digs, three blocks, one ace and one kill for GHS, while Jesse Bennett recorded four digs and one kill. Kylie Smotherman chipped in one dig, one kill and one ace in the loss.

The Greencastle junior varisty also dropped its contest in two set 25-9 and 25-5.

"We have a long way to go before sectional in October," Tiger Cubs' head coach Trish Lowe said. "We need to go back to the drawing board and start from scratch.

"What we are doing is not working, so I guess we better try something new. We will not surrender," Lowe emphasized.

The Tiger Cubs will host Speedway Saturday at 10 a.m.
