South Putnam picks up two wins

CLAYTON -- The South Putnam girls' golf team has gone 2-1 this past week, gaining wins over county rival North Putnam and conference foe Monrovia.

The Eagles defeated Monrovia Wednesday, with South Putnam posting a 193, while the Bulldogs fielded an incomplete team. Heather Hughes led the Eagles with a 42, while Grace Aker and Cierra Perry posted 49 each. Kelsey Searles shot a 53 and Robbie Urton carded a 67.

On Tuesday, the Eagles downed North Putnam 195-241. Hughes carded a 40, with Grace Aker posting a 47. Perry, Searles and Urton all recorded scores of 54.

The week began with South Putnam falling to Terre Haute South 201-185. Hughes posted a 43 to lead the way and Aker carded a 48. Perry came in with a 53, Searles a 57 and Urton a 59.

The Eagles will compete at the Western Boone Invite Saturday at 1 p.m.
