Putnam County Fair Board annual meeting slated for Sept. 28

GREENCASTLE -- The 2009 Annual Meeting of the Putnam County Fair and 4-H Club Association (Fair Board) is set for Sept. 28 in the Community Building at the Fairgrounds on North U.S. 231 in Greencastle. Everyone in the community is invited to attend the annual meeting.

As usual, the Fair Board's annual meeting will be a pitch-in dinner, starting at 6:30 p.m. The annual business meeting will be conducted following the meal. Those coming for the meal should bring a filled covered dish and table service. Meat, bread and beverages will be provided.

The purpose of the meeting is the election of board of directors, presentation of program reports, financial statements and any related summaries and forecasts. The by-laws of the corporation will also be reviewed and proposed changes will be voted on during the annual meeting.

All members present at the annual meeting are eligible to vote in the elections. Membership is open to all Putnam County persons meeting 4-H enrollment criteria or older. Any person meeting the membership criteria shall become a member by expressing an intention to become a member and by payment of their annual dues. Dues to belong to the Putnam County Fair Board are $1 per person, except for duly enrolled 4-H members, who are automatically members of the Corporation of the Fair Board.

The elected members of the Board of Directors of the Putnam County Fair Board consists of representatives from each township in Putnam County plus at least four directors-at-large, who may be from any township in Putnam County. At-large directors are elected each year for a one-year term. Directors representing townships are elected for two-year terms. The representatives of Clinton, Floyd, Greencastle, Jefferson, Russell and Washington Townships are elected in odd numbered years, and will be elected at this year's meeting. Directors from the remaining townships (Jackson, Madison, Warren, Cloverdale, Monroe, Marion and Franklin) are elected in even numbered years.
