Randall Hollis Staggs, 78, of Brazil died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009 at Danville Regional Rehabilitation Center.

He was born May 17, 1931 in Ferndale, the son of Clarence P. Staggs and Elizabeth F. Coombs Staggs. He was a 1949 graduate of Union High School in Bellmore. He was married to Ocie Phipps in Greencastle on Oct. 11, 1981.

Mr. Staggs served in the U.S. Air Force. He had been a press operator for IBM, along with being a farmer and truck driver. He was a member of Pittsboro Lodge #620 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Pittsboro Chapter #416 OES and was a Boy Scout troop leader for over 50 years in Rockville and Columbus, Ohio.

Survivors include his wife Ocie Staggs of Brazil; son Timothy Michael Staggs and wife Pat of Orient, Ohio; two daughters, Randi Sue Briebach of Columbus, Ohio and Carol Jayne Lattorre and husband Joseph of Sylvania, Ohio; stepson Thomas Alexander of Florida; three stepdaughters, Malinda Leah Waters and husband Donald of Pittsboro, Leslie Jane Baldwin and husband Gary of Pittsboro and Donna Michelle Little of Asheboro, N.C.; two brothers, Raymond Staggs of Kingman and Clarence Staggs Jr. of Rockville; sister Mary Vibbert of Danville; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

His parents; two brothers, Roy Staggs and John Knauer; and sister Mable Fortner preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Barnes and Rice Funeral Home in Rockville with the Rev. Alan Cloar officiating. Burial will be in Memory Garden Cemetery with military graveside rites by Parke County Veterans.

Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with Masonic memorial service at 7:30 p.m.
