GREENCASTLE -- Further details about suspicious activity that took place this past week at a Greencastle Community Schools bus stop have been released by the Greencastle Police Department.

Parents of Greencastle Community Schools students were notified Thursday evening of the suspicious activity via a recorded telephone message from Superintendent Robert Green.

Green said that "on two different occasions, an adult has attempted to approach a high school girl before her bus arrived."

"The incident occurred in the south end of Greencastle," GPD Chief Tom Sutherlin said. "The only description we have at this time is a white male wearing all dark clothing."

Sutherlin said patrols have been stepped up in the area and will continue to be until the subject is apprehended.

The incident came to the attention of school officials when the girl who was approached reported the incidents to her teacher, who in turn notified Greencastle High School assistant principal Russ Hesler.

The GPD investigation is ongoing, and Green urged parents to "be vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately to the police department."

Anyone with information on the incidents is asked to call the Greencastle Police Department at 653-2925.
