CLINTON -- The North Putnam High School girls' soccer team defeated the South Vermillion Wildcats Wednesday, 4-2.

All four of the Cougars goals came from players who had not scored a goal all season long.

Freshman Brooke Matthews scored two of the goals, with Lauren Campbell scoring one goal and senior keeper, Dakota Malayer scoring the final goal on a penatly kick.

"We wanted to get Brooke a goal tonight because she hadn't had one all season," NPHS Coach Willie Gaskins said. "We were really happy when Lauren got her goal and then when the PK came up, we let Dakota have it.

"And Dakota's kick was beautiful. She put it right in the left hand corner of the goal," Gaskins added.
