One wounded in standoff
GREENCASTLE -- One man sustained a gunshot wound in a Tuesday night standoff southeast of the city.
Officers responded to the scene at county roads 300S and 500E some time before 8 p.m. An unidentified suspect had apparently barricaded himself inside his home. It was unclear if the situation involved any hostages.
Around 8:30 p.m., reports came across the scanner of a male down with a gunshot wound on the upper inside of his left thigh. Medics responded to the scene, and he was eventually airlifted to Wishard Hospital by PHI helicopter.
Negotiators were on the phone for several hours, working toward a peaceful resolution.
At approximately 12:20 a.m., a male suspect was said to be in custody. The standoff apparently ended without further incident.
With agencies still on the scene, no confirmed details were available at press time.
