ISP post to host trunk or treat

Wednesday, October 28, 2009

PUTNAMVILLE -- The Indiana State Police Putnamville Post, located at 1927 West US 40, will be hosting its first "trunk or treat" on Oct. 30 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Trunk or treat is a safe alternative to traditional trick or treating and has become common with church groups and community organizations. Trunk or treating participants decorate the opened trunks or opened rear hatches of SUVs and pass out candy. Generally, each car has its own theme and it is up to the participant on what theme he or she wants to portray.

Troopers will be decorating their police cars and will be interacting with the children. Child DNA identification kits will be available at no charge to the parents, grandparents or guardians accompanying the children. DNA identification kits have taken the place of the traditional "fingerprint" cards for children. They are simple to use, can be completed in the privacy of your home and do not expire.

The troopers at the Putnamville Post hope to make this an annual event and would like to invite children from the area to participate in this exciting Halloween event.

For further information on this event, contact Trooper Michael Wood, Sergeant Cory Robinson or Sergeant Richard W. Myers at the Putnamville Post at 653-4114 or 800-225-8576.
