Old Toppers is back
GREENCASTLE -- Old Toppers Restaurant is officially back in business following an open house last week. Both the pub and restaurant are open for business and offering a great array of food and drink including homemade French fries and onion rings.
They serve a full menu the entire day and have recently opened a lunchtime salad bar and plan to open a hot bar at the first of the year.
Their regular menu includes plenty of old favorites like the Old Topper Burger.
Each day, there is a $5.99 lunch special, in addition to varying dinner specials.
"We have specialty wings, prime rib sandwiches and Italian beef," said owner Daniel George. "The steaks and lasagna are also very popular. We're getting lots of repeat customers and that tells me the food is good. We have a great chef onboard."
The restaurant gives a 10 percent discount on all food with a valid student or faculty I.D. and for visitors staying at local hotels. They hope to take part in the DePauw Tiger cards soon.
"We'd love to have DePauw jerseys and other DePauw stuff around the restaurant," he said. "We want students to come here, be safe and have a good time," said George.
George is trying to arrange for safe rides for students visiting the Pub that is open until 3 p.m. most nights.
"We want to promote a safe environment for students as well as the community," added George. "We want to provide to the community and be a contributing member."
Old Toppers Restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday. The Pub is open later.
