Noble Lee Bowen, 79, Plainfield, died Dec. 10, 2009.

Formerly of Stilesville, he was born to Dennis Bowen and Leota Zeiner Bowen on June 5, 1930 in Fillmore.

Mr. Bowen graduated from Fillmore in 1948 and went on to serve a year in the US Navy. Upon his return, he met and married the love of his life, Ruth Anne Marley Bowen on Sept. 15, 1950.

Our Dad was a jack-of-all-trades and supported his family over the years by delivering milk, running a gas station, to a long career as a process engineer at the former Westinghouse Air Brake Co. Most importantly, he was a devoted husband to his wife of 59 years and a loving and caring father to his five children.

He gave his family a lifetime of memories from our camping trips, boating and teaching his children how to do things from riding a bike, siding a house, to changing oil in a car.

He loved animals, woodworking, gardening and especially to care for his roses. Most importantly, he provided his family with a bond of love that endures.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Anne Marley (formerly of Coatesville); his sons, Rick, of Chicago, and Randy, of St. Louis; his daughters, Patty Hutton (Don) of Greenwood, Pam Blackard (Richard) of Cartersburg, and Sandy Lehnen (Rob) of Zionsville; nine granddaughters; two grandsons; three stepgrandsons; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He is joining his brother, Robert and his beloved grandson Andy, both whom we lost earlier this year.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Plainfield United Methodist Church, 600 Simmons St., where friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. Burial will be in Coatesville Cemetery.

Husband father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and servant of God; a life well lived, a legacy of love, he will be greatly missed. Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield handled the arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be sent to the Bowen family at www.hamptongentry.com
