Floyd Russell 'Clody' Clodfelter

Floyd Russell "Clody" Clodfelter, 84, Greencastle, died Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born May 18, 1925 in Crawfordsville, the son of Lonnie and Addie (Wilson) Clodfelter, he was raised in the Russellville area.

Mr. Clodfelter was a 1943 graduate of Russellville High School and a graduate of Purdue University with a degree in electrical engineering.

He married Dorthea Josephine (Wood) Clodfelter and she preceded him in death in October of 1968. He married Dorothy Lou (Palmore) Clodfelter on Feb. 22, 1969 and she survives.

He had been a school bus driver for the Greencastle School Corporation for several years until his retirement. He had previously owned and operated Clody's Marathon Station and wrecker service in Greencastle; been a rural mail carrier; and worked for the Farm Bureau Co-op as a fuel oil route driver.

He was a United States Army Veteran having served in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Temple No. 47, Greencastle; the Scottish Rite, Indianapolis; Sherwood Christian Church; American Legion; V.F.W., both of Greencastle; the National Rifleman's Assn.; and life member of the DAV.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Clodfelter; two daughters, Debra Pendleton of Speedway and Marsha Gill and husband James of Indianapolis; a son, Jeffrey Clodfelter and wife Lorrie of New Palestine; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorthea Josephine Clodfelter; a son, Gregory Clodfelter; and two brothers, Everett and Willis Clodfelter.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home with the Pastor Alan Small officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday with a Masonic service to be held at 7 p.m.
