GREENCASTLE -- With 2010 just a flip of the calendar away, many people are pondering resolutions for the New Year. The most common is being more fit or healthy for a brighter, longer future.

A new business in Greencastle should make this resolution more easily attainable.

Snap Fitness will open its doors Jan. 6, 2010 and offer residents a "fast, convenient and affordable" alternative to traditional big-box fitness centers.

The new club, which will operate around-the-clock, will be located at 1752 Indianapolis Road, in the shopping center in front of Wal-Mart. The new business is offering no enrollment fee for a limited time -- a savings of $149 -- just in time to help keep that New Year's resolution.

Brice Leconte and Shawn Crawford, local owners, promise visitors will be impressed with the compact yet modern and comfortable environment.

"We offer the same great workout experience as those larger, fancier clubs, but at a fraction of the price," Crawford said. "Our difference is that we're small and nearby, so you can get in and get out fast and still get a quality workout."

"My goal is to be the best value in town, saving you money and time, while still helping you achieve the results you want," he added.

To make your healthy resolution more attainable, every Snap Fitness member receives a free fitness assessment valued at $100, plus free instruction and a workout plan.

In addition, a personal Web page provides access to an online training center where workouts can be created, modified and tracked; an online nutritional and meal planning program that recommends daily caloric intake and menus based on personal goals and preferences; and a confidential health risk assessment that results in a personal wellness plan with tailored recommendations on how to lower health risks and achieve fitness faster.

"We will also be offering a complete line of nutritional products and programs," added Crawford.

The suburban Minneapolis-based fitness club is the fastest growing franchisor of compact, 24/7 fitness clubs. Snap's popularity is due, in part, to member-friendly policies, said Crawford.

These include the option to belong month-to-month without signing a long-term contract and the ability to freeze the membership for up to three months during times when you're not planning to use it.

"The economy's tough, but people still value their health," said Leconte. "I want to help by giving them more for their money and contributing to the health and quality of life in our community."

A single person can join Snap Fitness for $34.95 per month; for a couple, it is $49.95; and a family can get fit together for $59.95 per month.

Each member is provided a personalized key card, making access easy, even during un-staffed hours, to any of Snap's nearly 900 clubs in the United States, Canada and India.

Inside, each club is stocked with cardio and strength-training equipment identical to that found in big-box clubs, as well as free weights.

The company has been ranked as the number one fitness franchisor in annual rankings compiled by Entrepreneur Magazine. For more information, call 653-4000, visit www.snapfitness.com/greencastlein or e-mail greencastlein@snapfitness.com
