Theodore J. Nispel

Theodore J. Nispel, 90, of Greencastle and formerly of Waveland died Monday, Jan. 4, 2010 at Hendricks Regional Health Center in Danville.

He was born Aug. 3, 1919 to William M. and Rose Bogner Nispel in York, Pa. He married Opal Frazier on Nov. 18, 1945 in Rockville, and she died Dec. 22, 2004.

Mr. Nispel retired from RR Donnelley and Sons in Crawfordsville. He served in World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and received a Bronze Star. He was a member of Parkville Christian Church.

He is survived by a son, Randy (Debbie) Nispel of Greencastle; daughters Sandra Thomas of Indianapolis and Teressa (Harry) DeHaven of Greencastle; sister Rose Miller of San Antonio; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

His parents, four brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.

Services were handled by Machledt and Servies Funeral Home in Waveland, with the Rev. Jack Hopkins officiating. The American Legion and VFW performed military graveside rites at Indian Creek Cemetery near New Market.
