Roche back in jail
GREENCASTLE -- Only weeks after being released from prison, a Fillmore man is back in jail for allegedly violating the terms of his probation.
Frank Adam Roche, 19, was convicted of Class C felony battery resulting in bodily injury and was sentenced on Feb. 19 to seven years at the Indiana Department of Correction with two years executed and the balance to be spent on probation.
Roche entered the Plainfield Correction Facility on June 11. He was released on Dec. 6, and began his term of probation.
On Jan. 6, Roche was arrested in Hendricks County for public intoxication and being a minor in possession of alcohol.
He was formally charged on Jan. 7, and on Jan. 11 the state filed a petition to revoke Roche's probation.
A bench warrant was issued for Roche on Jan. 13. He appeared in court earlier this week, where he entered a denial to the allegations and Sidney Tongret was appointed as Roche's public defender.
A fact-finding hearing in the case was set for Feb. 18, and Putnam County Circuit Court Judge Matthew Headley ordered Roche held without bond.
Between the time of his arrest and the time of his sentencing, Roche spent 172 days in jail. He received credit for those days.
The original battery charge against Roche stemmed from an incident that occurred in June 2008. Roche and four co-defendants and a juvenile were all charged in connection with the beating of John Sanders of Greencastle.
At his sentencing, Roche admitted to kicking Sanders once in the chest after the other men had already knocked Sanders to the ground. Roche said he was drunk when the incident occurred.
Roche has been in and out of the Putnam County Court system since he was a juvenile. He was on parole for a burglary offense when he was arrested for his part in the attack on Sanders.
