Branch Gordon

GREENCASTLE -- Indie rock singer-songwriter Branch Gordon will bring his live set to the Swizzle Stick in Greencastle at 9 p.m. Saturday. The performance was originally slated for Jan. 7, but has been rescheduled for this weekend.

Gordon, a performer local to Indianapolis, delivers a blues oriented performance (John Mayer, Eric Clapton), while using a combination of a looping pedal/synth workstation to create live, complex musical soundscapes, all infused with catchy melodies and memorable lyrics.

"Branch is a wonderful, exciting contributor to our local music scene, and with the release of his first complete EP -- and a full CD in the works -- hopefully moving on to even bigger things in the future," said Darrin Snider of The Indy In Tune Podcast (Aug. 05, 2009).

Fans say Gordon's sound combines the rock-blues vocal stylings of John Mayer with the acoustic musings of Jack Johnson and Jason Mraz, all mashed up together into great music that is all his own.

Born and raised in a small town in Indiana, Gordon began his songwriting career at the impressionable age of seven. Under the strict tutelage of his classical piano instructor, he learned the foundations to musical theory for nearly 10 years before being forever corrupted by rock-and-roll.

Almost two decades later, this singer-songwriter has transformed into a musical prodigy, able to effortlessly move from keyboards and guitars, vocals and percussion, from the electronic to the analog realm, with an ease and familiarity that is awe inspiring.

Gordon delivered his first CD Release, titled "Under the Fluorescent Lights" in 2008. It's a personal tribute to 9-5 working musicians who dream of something more. His original music touches on experiences ranging from painful break-ups to the afterlife. The angry blues rock hit "So Long" describes being fed-up with relationship drama, and is currently enjoying a spot on the top 10 blues-rock chart on GarageBand.com.

Produced by William Smith (http://www.myspace.com/producersmith), and under the direction of Tyler Music Group (www.tylermusicgroup.com) in Nashville, Tenn., Branch released his self-titled EP in the summer of 2009. The demo was recorded at the Sound Emporium, and brought together some of Nashville's finest musicians.

Branch currently performs all over the Midwest, and is working on a full album.
