Frisbie's court date continued

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

GREENCASTLE -- A probable cause challenge that was set for Tuesday in the case against former Putnam County sheriff Mark Frisbie was continued, but no new date has been set.

Frisbie, 39, was arrested in Putnam County Dec. 4 and charged with Class A misdemeanor operating with at least .15 grams of alcohol in 210 liters of breath, Class B misdemeanor public intoxication, Class C misdemeanor operating while intoxicated and open alcohol container and driving left of center infractions. Frisbie was stopped on U.S. 231 in Greencastle by Indiana State Police, and was found to have a blood alcohol content of .27 -- over three times Indiana's legal limit.

At the time of his arrest, Frisbie was on federal probation for a November 2008 conviction for federal program theft. On Jan. 22, Frisbie was sentenced in U.S. District Court to six months with Volunteers of America, a residential, non-profit human services organization based in Indiana. VOA residents are required to maintain employment and comply with all court orders and restrictions attached to their cases.

A trial on the new Putnam County charges is set for April 7 in Putnam County Superior Court.
