CMS 8th grade defeates North Putnam, 24-20

Saturday, March 6, 2010

The Cloverdale eighth grade girls' basketball team defeated North Putnam in a defensive struggle, 24-20.

"Last night the old saying came true. 'Your defense will save you on the nights that your offense isn't working,'" CMS coach Billy Boyette said. "We just could not get our offense in gear."

The Clovers did a great job from the charity stripe, though, going 10-of-14. Down the stretch, Beka Jordan was 7-of-8 from the line.

Lindsey Robson and Megan Helterbrand had three steals in the last 2:30 of the game to seal the win.

The Clovers (5-9) travel to Eminence today.
