Cloverdale Elementary

Kindergarten Round-Up is scheduled for April 8 at Cloverdale Elementary School from 6 to 7 p.m.

Children who are 5 years of age on or before Aug. 1, 2010 are eligible for enrollment for the 2010-2011 school year.

On April 8, parents need to bring the following items for their child: birth certificate, immunization record, and social security number. These items will be copied and attached to your child's school records.

In order for your child to be assigned to a classroom the office must have the birth certificate and the immunization record.

Parents and children will be able to tour the kindergarten classrooms. Testing for class placement will take place at registration in August. It is important that necessary paperwork be completed in April.

South Putnam elementaries

The annual South Putnam Community School Corporation kindergarten orientation for the 2010-2011 school year will be held April 6, 7 and 8 at all South Putnam elementary schools.

A child must be 5 years of age on or before Aug. 1 to be eligible for kindergarten in the 2010/2011 school year.

To be eligible for first grade, a child must be 6 years of age on or before Aug. 1, except those children who attended one year of kindergarten previously at another school corporation.

Students and parents should attend the orientation session of the school they will be attending in the fall. Both should plan to be present during the entire session -- two and one-half hours. A variety of information and activities are scheduled.

The following is a list of dates and times for each school's orientation:

* Reelsville Elementary, April 6 -- Last names beginning A to M, 8:30 a.m.; Last names N to Z, 12:30 p.m. For more information, call the school at 672-4248 or 672-4709.

* Fillmore Elementary, April 7 -- 8:30 a.m. For more information, call the school at 246-6136.

* Central Elementary, April 8 -- 8:30 a.m. For more information, call the school at 653-6175 or 795-3417.

During the orientation session, a preschool screening check will be administered to each child.

All children must be screened prior to being admitted to kindergarten for the first time. Those children who are not screened during the orientation will be screened the first week of enrolling into kindergarten in the fall.

Parents must present the child's official birth certificate and immunization records as required by law. An official birth certificate may be obtained from the Board of Health in the county where the child was born. It is also requested the child's Social Security number be on file. Those records will be copied and returned.

Each school is taking a survey to determine the number of students who will be participating in orientation. Notify the school if a child will be entering school next year.
