GREENCASTLE -- ResCare announced today that the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) has awarded its highest award, a three year accreditation, to ResCare Residential Program.

ResCare Residential provides residential treatment services to approximately 80 children from across the state of Indiana.

Services provided include two residential facilities serving teenage boys and three group homes located in Greencastle and Cayuga. The separate group homes provide services to young boys (ages 6-12), females (ages 6-18) and an honors group home for teenage boys who have excelled in the residential setting and are in need of a more independent living setting. The program provides young people with a safe, structured, home-like environment, as well as educational instruction from the accredited, on-grounds Dr. Collins Elementary, Jr/Sr high school and treatment from a staff of Master's level case counselors.

CARF is an independent, non-profit accreditor of human service providers in the areas of rehabilitation, employment, child and family, community and aging services. To attain accreditation by CARF, ResCare Residential Program underwent a rigorous review conducted by professionals who observed their programs and services for several days. Reviewers also interviewed children receiving services, direct care staff and administrators to gain a clear picture of the quality of services being provided to children, their families and placing agencies.

"Staff members have a genuine commitment to the mission of the organization and have positive relationships with the children, youths and families served," stated the CARF surveyors. They also reported, "The facilities for children are child and youth-friendly, beautifully decorated and provide a safe, calm environment." In addition to residential services, ResCare Residential's day treatment program was also awarded a three year accreditation citing "the day treatment program not only provides an academic program that promotes academic competency, but also offers important treatment components that include recreation, expressive arts and therapeutic confrontation and discussion."

Ralph G. Gronefeld Jr., ResCare president and chief executive officer said, "ResCare is extremely proud of the employees and the programs at ResCare Residential Program. ResCare's quality assurance systems and culture provide the tools, but our staff members ensure they are put into practice with the dedication and caring that earns them the well-deserved commendation from CARF. As the CARF survey states, they are truly dedicated to our mission to provide and care for each individual we serve."
