Police investigate leads on missing person
GREENCASTLE -- The Greencastle Police Department has received two solid tips in a missing person case officers have been working on since Wednesday.
GPD Chief Tom Sutherlin said a woman contacted the department and told them she had picked up a hitchhiking Gerrick Steen, 18, of Greencastle near Northview High School on the west end of Brazil.
The woman said she gave Steen a ride to Terre Haute.
A second caller, a male, told GPD officers he had seen Steen on 6th Street in Terre Haute between 1 and 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday and had spoken to him, but that he was unaware Steen had been reported missing.
Steen was last seen on Tuesday 7 p.m. on Manhattan Road approximately half a mile north of Antioch Baptist Church. He was wearing tan cargo pants and a green and tan parka.
He is 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 190 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
Steen normally walks around town, goes to the library and usually carries a backpack. When he left home at some time Tuesday, he left behind his backpack, coat, medication and money.
Steen has a medical condition and needs to take medications.
