Hats off to homemaker group
GREENCASTLE -- The 15 active members of the Family, Friends and Fun Homemakers Club spend a lot of their time knitting and crocheting "chemo caps" that are then donated to patients in need of them.
They recently donated 43 of the special hats to the Putnam County Hospital's Cancer Center.
The idea came from Sue Ryland who had a friend going through chemotherapy.
"Pam wanted to make her a chemo cap since she had lost her hair. We went on line and found a pattern. Then we decided to make them for everyone we could," said member Judy Miller.
The club makes other items as well including other types of hats and lap quilts. They are happy to take donations of yarn for their projects.
The group meets on the third Monday of the month at the Putnam County Museum at 7 p.m. For information about the hats or to make a yarn donation, e-mail Miller at judy@cinergymetro.net.
