Statewide project comes to Reelsville

Thursday, March 25, 2010

REELSVILLE -- On April 17, Indiana Student Education Association (ISEA) members from across the state, along with many other volunteers, will join together to offer assistance to Reelsville Elementary.

Some projects ISEA would like to accomplish include remodeling of the teacher's lounge, painting the gymnasium, purchasing a folding chair rack, either painting or replacing four outdoor basketball goals, repair a school sign, landscaping and more. The amount of assistance they can offer depends on how much they can raise in funds before the event.

Over the past few years, ISEA has averaged 200 volunteers each year to do the work. A team of building and grounds workers from the University of Evansville volunteer their time and help plan and supervise all the work.

ISEA welcomes any members of the public who would like to volunteer their time or who would like to support the endeavor financially. All donors will be listed, unless otherwise requested, on "thank you" posters on site, as well as on the back side of T-shirts the volunteers will be wearing that day.

Those wishing to volunteer must complete a volunteer form by April 2. To obtain a volunteer form or get more information about the project or donating to the cause, may contact Kelsey Hennette at khennett@butler.edu. Hennette is a 2008 graduate of Greencastle High School and current Butler sophomore.

ISEA is a student organization comprised of education majors on college campuses across the state. It is an affiliate of the Indiana State Teachers Association. The project is entering its sixth year.

Questions may also be directed to ISEA advisor Teresa Meredith at tmeredith@ista-in.org or by calling 800-382-4037, ext. 309.
