Trio inducted into Hall of Fame

GREENCASTLE -- Local bowlers Patti Cash, Dale Bennington and Dave Von Tress were inducted into the Greater Greencastle USBC Association Hall of Fame at the annual spring awards banquet.

Cash has been bowling since 1978 when she and her husband, Steve, began bowling in the Question Mark Mixed League. She later joined the Alex Alleys Ladies League.

She was a team captain and served as vice president from 2005-06. She became director of the Greencastle Women's Bowling Association in 2002 and was on of the first directors of the Greater Greencastle USBC when it was formed in 2006. Cash has served on all the committees of both associations and was inducted for her Meritorious Service.

Bennington was also inducted for his Meritorious Service. Bennington began bowling in 1968 at Varsity Lanes with his father, Edgar Bennington.

After returning to Greencastle from California to be closer to his parents, he again bowled with is father until his father retired from bowling in 2007. He was elected to the Greencastle Bowling Association as a director in 2004 and was one of the first directors of the Greater Greencastle USBC in 2006.

Bennington took a Lane Certification class at the Milwaukee National Convention, becoming one of the three people who are certified lane inspectors for the association. Bennington joins his father, mother Helen and sister Karen Cox as members of the Greencastle Bowling Hall of Fame.

Von Tress was inducted to the Hall of Fame for his Superior Performance. Von Tress has carried an average of 175-180 consistently since he started bowling at Alex Alleys (Varsity Lanes).

He bowls two nights a week and every other Sunday on a mixed league with his wife, Kelly. Von Tress's family is a bowling family. His father bowled and his wife and son both bowl.
