Extension classes set for April

Monday, March 29, 2010
Donna Harcourt, aka Krafty Lady, a local artist and extension educator Jackie Baumann look over paper crafts and discuss plans for the April 12 craft workshop to be taught by Harcourt.

Now is the time to register if you wish to attend either the Spring series of Dining with Diabetes classes, which will be held on four Wednesdays in April or a craft workshop, which is set for April 12.

April 2 is the final date to register for the 2010 Spring series of Dining with Diabetes classes. For more information about the classes, which will be taught by extension educator, Jackie Baumann and Sharon Black, RD from the Putnam County Hospital, call the Extension Office at 653-8411.

April 6 is the deadline to register for a Craft Workshop which will be taught by local artist Donna Harcourt. The workshop, which is scheduled for 7 p.m. on April 12, will feature several clever -- but not too difficult -- paper crafts.

Harcourt will supply both the instructions and the materials for each of the paper crafts which include a gift tags and gift/greeting cards made using several unique and interesting techniques which once learned can be applied to a variety of craft items.

Both of these classes are open to the public. The cost of the four-week Dining with Diabetes classes is $25, which covers the cost of the classes, notebook, handouts and a light meal at each class.

The cost of the craft class is $2 to $3 per item made, which covers the cost of instruction and materials.

Anyone interested in attending is invited to register for the class.

Another event coming up in April is the Putnam County Extension Homemakers Spring Dessert on April 29. The theme for this year's program is April Showers, and the guest speaker will be Randy Ollis, the meteorologist from Channel 8.

The club planning this year's event will be providing a Chicken and Noodle supper prior to the program. Those who wish to come for dinner need to make a reservation and purchase a ticket in advance.

Anyone is welcome to attend, and persons who wish to come after dinner and only for the program are also welcome.

No dinners will be served without a ticket. To purchase tickets or to make a dinner reservation contact Bev Spires at 246-6558 or call the Extension Office at 653-8411.
