GREENCASTLE -- Nancy Dennis announces her candidacy as Republican candidate for Putnam County Assessor.

Dennis let everyone know her goal to become a candidate last July as she marched in the parade opening the Putnam County 4-H Fair.

She resides in Warren Township in Putnam County with her husband Bob of 42 years, along with their sheltie Carlie. Dennis and her husband attend Putnamville Baptist Church. She is a mother of six and a grandmother of 13.

She has worked with several youth groups and was a Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Den Leader and a 4-H Leader. Dennis is a member of the Reelsville Firehouse Auxiliary and the Republican Women's Club. Dennis has enjoyed working at different community functions and continues to help where she is needed. She is a past member of the Greencastle Business and Professional Women, Indiana Assessors Association and the Association of Indiana Counties.

Dennis has been a real estate broker for more than 20 years and managed rental properties for 23 years.

Dennis worked throughout the state as a Level II assessor/appraiser in different counties, has 11 years experience in assessing and has passed courses toward becoming a Level III required by the State in 2013.

As district supervisor, she oversaw the reassessment process in several counties for the 2002 reassessment and helped in others. Dennis worked as supervisor in the Putnam County Reassessment Department for nearly six years, assessing both residential and commercial properties.

Dennis has experience working with budgets, payroll, hiring and terminating personnel, job instruction, billing, setting short and long term goals to achieve the most cost effective results, overseeing multiple offices with several personnel in each and multiple computer programs. Dennis has worked with the state in helping be compliant with the auditor. She has worked with the sales disclosures in verification and ratio studies needed to finalize assessments.

Dennis plans on having an open door Policy to enable the taxpayer to call and or come in to see how they are being assessed. She plans to review the taxpayer's property record card with them to make sure they are being assessed correctly. Dennis wants to keep in touch with taxpayers by keeping them informed of changes made by state government. Dennis hopes to work with the taxpayer, so taking time off work to speak with her is not necessary, having courteous and knowledgeable staff that can answer questions and help the taxpayer with their concerns and by returning phone calls when necessary to inform them of answers to their questions.

Dennis is a hard worker who has spent many hours reading and studying the laws and regulations sent forth from our state government. She is a giving and helpful person. Dennis's goal, after becoming the assessor, is to help make Putnam County a place where people want to live, raise families and prosper. Let's make that goal a reality.

Your vote for Dennis as your next Assessor on May 4 is greatly appreciated.
