South Putnam, Clovers battle on the track Tuesday

The Cloverdale Middle School girls' track squad defeated South Putnam Tuesday, 66-43.

Logging first place finishes for the Clovers were Riley Canfield (2,400), Gloria Butler (100), Laura Worthington (1,600, discus), Rylie Vauters (200), Raeanna McFadden (400) and Alexis Branneman (high jump). Canfield (1,600), Adrianna Patterson (2,400), Butler (200), Brooke Rush (100), Worthington (800), Branneman (long jump), Tatiana Raney (high jump) and Sydney Gutieres (shot put).

Third place finishers for Cloverdale were Brittany Shoopman (100), Clare Plamondon (1,600), Branneman (400), Kelsey Helterbrand (200, long jump), Gutierez (discus) and Natalie Stuckey (Shot put, discus).

For South Putnam, Kim Cheatham was first in the long jump and tied for first in high jump, while Ariel Higgins won the 110 hurdles and Carly Allen won the 800. Morgan Aker earned first place in the shot put.

The 400 relay team of Megan Guthrie, Siera Heim, Courtney Sullivan and Angel Nield was first, with the team of Cheatham, Higgins, Nield and Allen was first in the 400 relay.

South Putnam

The South Putnam Junior High boys' track team defeated Cloverdale Tuesday 82-27.

Recording wins for the Eagles were Hunter Barr (2,400, 1,600), Tyler Neumann (110 hurdles, 400), Wes Riner (100, long jump), Noah Taylor (800) and Jacob Williams (discus).

The 400 relay team of Fiest, Arnold, Riner and Zane Yon won, with the 1,600 relay team also got a win.

Sawyer Arnold (100, long jump), Jared Hornaday (1,600), Klayton Vittetow (800), Neumann (200), Nathan Criss (discus) and Ben Fiest (high jump) all picked up second place finishes for South Putnam.

For Cloverdale Wade Warren was first in the high jump and in the 200. Cody Stout was first in the shot put. Jon Smith was second in the shot put, while Garrett Brackin was second in the 110 hurdles and the 400.

James Williams was third in the 800 and Warren was third in the 100.
