Open mic, poetry night held at Blue Door

Saturday, April 17, 2010

GREENCASTLE -- Open Mic Poetry Night will be the perfect venue to read poetry and share a love of the spoken word.

Co-sponsored by the Putnam County Public Library, open mic night will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Blue Door Cafe, 302 E. Washington St.

Joe Heithaus will take the lead and give a reading of his own poetry before turning host for the night. The point of open mic night, aside from celebrating National Poetry Month, is that no matter who you are, no matter how good or bad the poetry, anyone is welcome up on stage.

Not a poet, but love poetry? The public invited to read a favorite poem or just sit back and listen.

Sign-up will begin at 6:30 p.m. for those who want to take the stage. Readings will begin at 7 p.m. The event is free.

For more information contact the PCPL, 653-2755, ex 118 or visit the library's Web site at www.putnam.lib.in.us.
