Donald E. Martin, 82 of Hendricksville, passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2010 at Bloomington Hospital.

Born Aug. 25, 1927 in Terre Haute, he was the son of Owen Joseph and Martha Bryant Martin Monroe. After the death of his father, when he was two years old, he moved with his mother and brothers to Patricksburg to be near his grandparents as he grew up.

He attended schools in Jordan Village, Patricksburg and Solsberry High School. He was employed as a truck driver for BB&I Motor Freight and as a dispatcher for Griffith Motor Express. He retired from Indiana University in 1993 as pest control supervisor for building services after 27 years.

Don was a member of Faith Christian Church in Bloomfield and also attended Sherwood Oaks Christian Church in Bloomington.

He was married to Nancy H. Fulk Martin in Bloomington on Oct. 25, 1975.

Don is survived by his wife Nancy; two sons, Larry D. (Janet) Martin of Edgewater, Md. and Matthew S. (Jill) Martin of Ellettsville; stepsons David W. Griffith of Solsberry, Michael D. Griffith of Bloomington and Rick A. (Shirley) Griffith of Bedford; grandchildren Adam C. Griffith of Solsberry, Pvt. Benjamin D. Griffith of Fort Wainwright, Alaska, Haley N. and Ryan S. Martin of Ellettsville, Kristin (Craig) Wolf of Edgewater, Md. and Tony Worley of Bloomington; three great-granddaughters; brother Hershel J. (Lorrayne) Martin of Hendricksville; sister Virginia L. (Roy) Egan of Hendricksville; stepsister Evelyn May of Bloomfield; sister-in-law Billie Martin of Bloomfield; and many nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Frank Monroe, and brother Leroy Martin.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary with Pastor Henry Mann officiating. There will be a calling from noon to the time of service. Burial will be at Liberty Cemetery in Greene County.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, or Faith Christian Church in memory of Donald E. Martin.
