GREENCASTLE -- On Tuesday, the Greencastle girls' track team hosted Terre Haute North and West Vigo. The Tiger Cubs (72.5 points) finished second behind the Patriots (117.5 points), while West Vigo was third (9).

"We ran into some real tough competition tonight in Terre Haute North," GHS head coach Garry Anderson said. "The girls enjoyed running against them and West Vigo. We were hoping that this kind of meet would bring out better times and distances from our team."

Three individuals and two relays recorded wins for the Tiger Cubs on the night.

Colleen Weatherford won the 800 in a time of 2:24.96, while Abby Coffin won the 300 hurdles with a time of 51.69. Hannah Deer won both the discus and the shot put. In the shot put, she threw a distance of 30-9.5 and tossed a 92-7 in the discus.

The 400 relay team of Britany Girton, Laura English, Carissa Johnson and Kelsey Grzesiek won with a time of 52.07, while the team of English, Weatherford, Ivonne Martinez and Erika Davies captured the 1,600 with a time of 4:18.24.

Anderson noted that he saw some good things from his team on Tuesday, but gave up some points in a crucial field event.

"Several personal best performances were recorded throughout the meet. Our handoffs in the 4 x 100 relay were long over due. The exchanges were very smooth and quick. It's tough also to give up all those points in pole vault but we are without one at this time," Anderson said.
