Eva M. Smith

Eva M. Smith, 101, Cloverdale, passed away on May 13, 2010 at Mill Pond Health Campus, Greencastle.

She was born on Dec. 7, 1908 in Owen County and was the daughter of the late Curry B. and Emma Twomey Hart.

She was married to Harold H. "Banty" Smith Sr., and he preceded her in death. She was a member of the former Quincy Methodist Church. She was a homemaker, farmer and co-owner of Smith Implement and the Cloverdale Hardware and Lumber Company.

She is survived by her children, LaVaughn Patten of Cloverdale, Ellen and Bill Davies of Cloverdale, Max and Anita Smith of Cloverdale, Harold "Red" and Maxine Smith of Quincy, Delmas Joe and Rita Smith of Cloverdale and Michael L. and Marsha Smith of Gosport; daughter-in-law Annabeth Smith of Cloverdale; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Mannan Cemetery.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son Elvin Boyd "Epp" Smith; granddaughter Jennifer Smith; grandson Stanley Smith; great-grandson Michael Wayne Dowell; five sisters; and two brothers.
