GPRD announces summer programs

GREENCASTLE -- The Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department is offering a series of adult summer recreation programs, which include:

* Greencastle Summer Running Club -- This is the fourth year for the partnership between DePauw University, Greencastle Community Schools, and the Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department. The program is open to middle school, high school, college and adult runners and will utilize the trail system at the DePauw University Nature Park.

The Summer Running Club provides the opportunity to meet and run with other runners, consult with area coaches, monitor personal growth in a great outdoor setting.

The club will meet on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings beginning May 24. Registration is ongoing with a fee of $15 per person, which will include a club T-shirt and water bottle.

* Adult Tennis Leagues -- It's time to grab the tennis rackets and hit the courts. The adult tennis program is open to men and women ages 15 and older, with men's and women's singles and women's, men's and mixed doubles. Players will receive a list of players and a season schedule, players will arrange their specific match times, and the winners reporting scores following each match.

Opening night will be the week of June 1. Entry fee is $15 per player, which will include a T-shirt and water bottle. Deadline for registration is May 28.
