Larry Jay Gilliam, 50, died unexpectedly in Hamilton, Ohio on Sunday, May 16, 2010.

He was born in Indianapolis on Nov. 13, 1959 to Darlene (Hancock) Gilliam Eaton, and was adopted by James Hubert Gilliam. He grew up in Belle Union and was a 1979 graduate of South Putnam High School.

Larry followed his grandfather's footsteps and became an over-the-road truck driver.

He is survived by his mother; son Jay (Macky) Gilliam; daughter Courtney (Bobby) Hill; grandchildren Talon and Brody Hill and Elizabeth Gilliam; sisters Penny Shipp (Ken) Kowalski of Springfield, Ore. and Kristi (David) Clark of Spencer; and brothers Doug (Angie) Gilliam of Auburn and Brad (Tammy) Gilliam of Plainfield.

He was preceded in death by his father Jim Gilliam and nephew Kent Gilliam.

A gathering of friends will be held on Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Whitaker Funeral Home in Cloverdale. A celebration of Larry's life will be held at 5628 Co. Rd. 900 E., Fillmore, IN at 6 p.m. Saturday. All are welcome, BYOB.
