Museum seeks local Native American artifacts

Monday, June 7, 2010

This fall the Putnam County Museum will feature a Native American exhibit focusing on the Woodland tribes that resided in modern-day Indiana.

While there is plenty of information, the museum is in need of community assistance.

If you are interested in helping with the exhibit, contact Tanis Monday, museum director, at 653-8419.

Specifically, the museum seeks artifacts that may pertain to the local tribes. No arrowheads are needed; however, when the exhibit opens, attendees should feel free to bring their own to learn about their personal collections through an interactive exhibit.

Due to limited space and the limited scope of the exhibit, the museum may not be able to use all the offerings. Representatives will stop considering artifacts by Aug. 1 in preparation for display.
