TERRE HAUTE -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology placed four players on the all-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference softball squad recently.

Seniors Brittany Bernthold (Fisherville, Ky./Eastern) and Jordan Goslee (St. Joseph, Mich.) captured first-team all-league accolades.

Freshman Brianne Widmoyer (Elkhart/Central) was named second-team all-conference. Freshman Meghan Canary (Coatesville/South Putnam) added honorable mention all-league accolades.

Bernthold capped her career with three first-team all-league honors and holds Rose-Hulman's career school record with 187 hits. She also ranks second in school history in batting average (.396) and triples (5). This season, Bernthold led the HCAC in hits and batted a team-high .408.

Goslee became the first player in school history to earn four all-conference honors in softball. The 2008 HCAC Pitcher of the Year holds career school records for pitching wins (38), strikeouts (513) and shutouts (15). She also threw the first perfect game in Rose-Hulman softball history against Hanover in 2009. Her efforts rank first, second and third in single-season school history in strikeouts.

Widmoyer started all 30 games as a freshman with a .300 batting average, eight doubles and 15 runs scored. She also showed versatility by contributing to the team pitching effort with a 2-1 record and a 1.96 earned run average in 25 innings of work.

Canary, named academic all-district by the College Sports Information Directors of America last week, batted .333 with two doubles, 17 runs scored and 13 RBIs. She also committed just six errors at the shortstop position while starting all 30 games.

Rose-Hulman earned its second winning season in the last three years with a 16-14 overall mark this spring.
