GREENCASTLE -- Twelve-year-old Anna Urban was voted first place winner in the annual duct tape competition hosted by the Putnam County Public Library.

Urban, who resides in Fillmore, created an aquarium comprised of the soft and flexible adhesive. Duct tape was originally developed during World War II, as water-resistant sealing tape for ammunition cases and a quick fix for windows and trucks.

Now 50 years after its invention, the popular silver tape is sold in more than 20 colors and is touted by its followers for having a nearly endless amount of uses including the aquarium created by Urban.

It took Urban six to eight hours of hard work to make her duct tape creation and for her efforts, she won a duct tape crown and scepter to wear proudly. Urban entered the competition last year and won two categories -- popular vote and judges favorite for her duct tape rendering of her pony Spots.

"It feels good. I feel privileged," Urban said about winning.

She doesn't have any plans for her creation next year, but is considering a duct tape dachshund.

All duct tape creations entered into the competition may be picked up at Rajean's office at PCPL during normal business hours. ResCare has temporarily left its masterpiece at the library for patrons to enjoy. The works of art are currently on display in the children's area and in the main stacks upstairs.
