GREENCASTLE -- A vehicle struck a pedestrian crossing North Jackson Street Thursday morning, sending a Greencastle man to the hospital with minor injuries.

At 9:06 a.m., Jeff Ruff was crossing westbound in the area of the Mini Mart gas station and Coin Laundry when a vehicle operated by 26-year-old Adam Parks of Greencastle struck Ruff and knocked him approximately 10 feet.

Parks stated he was pulling out of Coin Laundry's parking lot and didn't see 53-year-old Ruff due to the glare of the sun.

Ruff was transported to Putnam County Hospital with possible hip or pelvis and leg or knee fractures. Parks was cited for driving with a suspended license infraction.

In addition to Operation Life and GPD, the Greencastle Fire Department assisted at the scene. There was an estimated $750 to $1,000 in damages.

  • npgrade2008......Why should Mr. Ruff have to stay off the road when it was Mr. Adams that was driving illegally?
